When Someone Posts a Profit, What Did I Actually Miss?

Seeing the answer afterward is not the same as having an executable opportunity beforehand.

别人晒出收益时,我到底错过了什么?

The easiest way for a phone screen to create a sense of missed opportunity is to show someone else's result: a stock went up, a side business sold out, or an account landed an expensive advertising deal. The path is compressed into one screenshot, making it seem as though the same opportunity once passed in front of everyone.

One line in a saved article made me stop: when every visible profit is counted as an opportunity I missed, attention is spent on a past that never existed.

A revealed result is not a prior decision

"I should have bought it then" requires only knowledge of the endpoint. It does not answer what a real opportunity would have required beforehand: Why could I identify it? How much would I invest? Could I absorb the worst loss? What change would make me exit?

If these questions can be answered only after someone else has made money, I did not miss a decision. I saw the answer and imagined that I would have solved the problem.

This distinction is not about courage. A direction may genuinely be promising and may suit someone else well. If I lack the information, time, or ability to bear its downside, it has not yet entered my opportunity set.

The same applies to side businesses

Seeing someone earn money through short videos does not prove that I missed the same opening. I would need to choose topics repeatedly, deliver reliably, and handle client revisions. If one link is missing, the income shown in the screenshot is not a cheque waiting for me to collect.

Conversely, something I did not pursue need not remain irrelevant forever. It can become evidence for the next decision. Which signals were visible at the time? Which facts appeared only later? If a similar situation returns, will I have conditions I can actually execute?

I prefer to reserve the word "opportunity" for something that can be described before the result. That means missing plenty of excitement. It also removes a false regret: the belief that every gain, order, and trend should somehow have landed in my pocket.

When someone posts a profit, what I missed may be only an answer that has already been revealed.
